Geographical situation
In the central-western part of Romania, on the middle course of the Mureş, at the crossing point of the four roads: of Mureş and Banat, of Oltenia (through the narrow path of Jiu), and of the Cris Land (over the top of the mountain in the down valley of the White Cris).
